Product Review Colourpop Where The Light Is Collection

Hey Lovelies,

I am back this week with another Colourpop Collection. I hope you guys aren’t getting sick of these, but I completely love how budget friendly there entire makeup line is! I mean they are a fantastic makeup brand and I was lucky enough to meet a couple of the ladies when they flew down to be on the morning show that I happen to work for. Since then I have become a fan and I’ve ordered several products from their online website. I mean everybody and their mama talk rave about how great their products are and it’s 100 % true! From the cute packaging to the the great color swatch that they have on three different skin tones (light, medium, and dark) to the product itself, this makeup up brand has got the complete package working for them! Not to mention they’re locally made right here in the U.S and who doesn’t love that right?

I must confess that despite the fact that I watch YouTube almost religiously, I had no idea who Kathleen Lights was (insert scream here). I have since this collection launched seen a couple of her videos and think she’s pretty great. I saw the teases to this collection pop up on my instagram feed and was like, “Holy Smokes, I need this in my life…. when does this collection come out.” I think I may have lightly squealed too. I mean the shades are absolutely beautiful and being the neutral fan that I am, the colors totally made my heart go pitter-pat. I ordered this puppy right when it launched and added a few lippie stix (working on a separate review) to get the free shipping. I was anxiously waiting for my order to come in the mail!

When this finally arrived, I tore open the packaging and began to swatch these and I had a bit of a meltdown. I’m not even kidding ( well, I am slightly ever so slightly exaggerating). The shades are stunning, pigmented, blend like a dream, and they stay put all day! Here’s the breakdown:

Glow- This is a creamy vanilla light color and a matte finish. This is great as a subtle inner corner highlight and a brow highlight. Can be as opaque or as light as you want it to be depends on your application.

Kathleenlights- Bam! In your face absolutely stunning um, yes please I need this on my face bright golden copper. It’s a pearl finish and this shade is too delicious!Never had I seen a copper so fantastic or pigmented! This is my all time favorite shade and it’s everything you need. I love wearing this on the lid! I mean great shade.

Blaze- This is a great cocoa tone earthy brown with little specks of like golden brown specks. Great color to add to the outer corner to add a bit of contrast. This is a metallic finish and it is packing a punch but in a delicious way.

Cornelius- Now, not only do I love the name but the tone is beautiful as well. It is a great warm caramel with almost of a pink undertone. It’s quite beautiful and this can be worn on the lid for an everyday day time appropriate look or on the crease. All around great shade and this is also a matte Finish.

I mean this is a perfect little quad collection that has got it all in just those four shades. I think Kathleen Lights did a fantastic job when it came to choosing the colors for her collection. Yes they are neutrals but the they add such a glamorous look that it’s just to die for. If you can get your hands on this collection, go for it! I promise you won’t be disappointed!

That is all I have for this week. Hope you guys have a fantastic rest of your week and much love as always!

Until next time,

-Kat

Product Review: Colourpop “Rebound”

Hello Loves!

Hope you all had a fantastic week and are starting this brand new week full of energy and good vibes! I had a fantastic busy weekend and I’m enjoying the last bit of it because I will be working for the next seven days. I have quite the busy workweek ahead of me. I am finally ready to publish the Colourpop review on one of their Spring Palettes. I am working on a lipstick one but I haven’t fully worn all of them yet, plus I have a few more which are en route.

About a month ago I purchased the Rebound spring palette quad. It comes with 4 brand new shadows. I noticed the swatch post on instagram and completely fell in love with one shadow in particular and I decided to order it. I was super excited when it finally arrived and decided to play with it for a little while before I wrote a review on it.

The quad costs $20 and it comes with four of their eye shadows. The colors are the following:

One&Done- it’s described as a soft creamy butter ivory color and it’s a matte finish. This color is quite similar to my skin-tone but I find it works well as a highlight. It’s absolutely the perfect shade. It is matte but it looks perfect when worn on the brow bone.

Too Soon- this is a beautiful peach color with golden undertones and little specks of glitter. This is a duo chrome finish. This is absolutely my favorite color in the entire quad and the sole purpose on why I purchased the quad. I love wearing this on my lid. It catches the light beautifully and it has become my go to color thus far!

Adios- This the perfect smokey taupe greyish tone color. It’s not too dark but it adds just the perfect contrast to ground any look. This is another matte finish. I love adding this to the outer corners of my eye to add that little pop of contrast. It can also be worn alone on the lid for a beautiful day time smokey eye.

Ex- I find the name to be quite adorable. This is a bright coral red color. This color absolutely screams spring and summer and it’s another matte finish. I was a little afraid of the intensity of the color at first but I have worn this on the crease and its absolutely gorgeous. It adds just the right warmth and pop of color without being to overbearing.

Overall I think this is the perfect spring and summer palette. It has the perfect color combination that add a little fun pop of color. It’s a nice change from all the neutrals. You can come up with a perfect day time appropriate look or you can amp it up a tad with a little more pop of color with the shadow called “ex”. I find that these work best when applied with your finger but working with brushes is find too. I would say the best ones would be the synthetic brushes since this is a cream product.

I would absolutely recommend this palette. If you can grab your hands on it do so! you won’t regret it!

Colourpop: Not Your Box Of Chocolates

Hello Everyone!

As promised I am back this week with the Colourpop Holiday set Not Your Box of Chocolates. Now, if you follow Colourpop on any of their social platforms you are aware of the various holiday palettes that Colourpop has come out with. After doing a bit of research I decided to order this specific holiday palette due to the limited edition of colors.  If you head to the colourpop website, you may notice that their eye shadows go for $5 each. In this set you get six eye shadows which is a total of $30. So you are paying for each individual shadow that’s included in the set. However, if you were to order a set that costs $30 you get free shipping.

It took about a week for my set to come. I must say the holiday sets are packed so beautifully that if you are considered to grab this as a gift for someone you wouldn’t need to wrap it. Just adding a perfect bow would be enough.  I was super excited to play with the colors.  All of the shades are packed with color and come in a variety of finishes with I love. The colors are as follows:

1. Halo- this is a shimmery very peach toned color packed with that seems to be a bit of golden specks. It’s my new favorite all over the lid shade for every day. The finish is described as a “Satin Luxe Finish”.

2. Tinsel- Oh tinsel, this shades has to be my favorite out of the entire holiday set. It’s like a taupe only a thousand times better. I have yet to have seen a taupe-lavender hybrid just this amazing. This is a metallic finish and it is oh so perfect! I find this shade a tad bit similar to Makeup Geeks eye shadow in “Sensuous”. Only with a lot more grey mixed into it.

3. Partridge- This shade is a dead on ringer for Makeup Geek’s pigment in “Insomnia”. I mean they are literally the exact shade. It’s a very brown with a green duo chrome to it. This shade is pretty awesome and yes it is duo chrome finish.

4. Sleigh- This is a pretty light light green with lots of what seems to be multicolored glitter in it that gives this a more cool appearance to it. It’s a nice twist to a mint green. It does have a bit of similarities with Makeup Geek’s eye shadow in “Shimmermint”. Not a dead ringer but the shades are pretty similar. This is a Metallic finish.

5. Drift- After Tinsel this is my second favorite. This is a very true cranberry red color. I don’t have any color similar to this. It’s an absolute beauty to work with. If you love those rich red cranberry tones especially for this time of year, you’ll definitely love this one. This is a pearl finish.

6. Doe-A-Deer- This is a beautiful rich egg plant dark purple shade. Perfect to add a bit of contrast to any look.  This is a matte finish.

Overall this palette in my opinion is worth every single penny. The colors are unique and this suckers are potent. The picture of the swatches below are all without primer and let me just say I really had to scrub my arm to get all of the color off. Each shade is richly pigmented. This can be applied with a synthetic brush but I if you want the best color punch that this have to offer I would recommend using your fingers. Just make sure you close this as tightly as possible so they don’t dry out.

Below I have included a picture of the shades as well as a link to where you can order this particular set. No I am not in any way affiliated to the company and yes I did in fact purchase this with my own money.

That Is all I have for this week. Until next time! Much love as always,

-Kat

What Is Your Favorite Eye Shadow Color?

Good Morning My Dears!

I hope this past couple of weeks have been going fantastic for all of you. I sure can’t complain about mine. I have been quite busy juggling responsibilities but also taking some time off to enjoy some very much needed time with the Fam Bam.

This summer has been especially busy with barbecues and family parties and it got be to thinking, What is your go-to eye shadow color that makes you feel like a million bucks? For me. Gold eye shadow or any kind of variation of.

I love the color, I think it looks quite glamorous. It makes me think of red carpet events, and everything that has to do with the rich and famous. How do I pair it up, depends on the look I am trying to shoot for. I can do a simple wash of color with black eye liner or mix it up with bronze color or dark rich chocolate browns.

So, I would really like to know, what is your favorite go-to eye shadow color? I hope you have a fantastic week and until next time.

March Glam Bag Review

Hello Loves,

I have a little spare time and what better way to spend it than catching up on the Glam Bag Reviews? I have my notebook, a nice cup of joe and music is playing. Yep, I am ready to rock-n-roll! I am lacking sleep a bit, but you know? Sometimes you can’t have it all right? It shall be my weekend soon enough and on Friday I will be attending a little get together with lovely work peeps for some good ol burgers and beers. MMMMmmm MMMMmm!

All right so moving things along, the theme for the month of March was ” The Great Escape”. The bag was a very cute Nautical inspired design. Blue and white lines with anchors stamped all around, stinkin cute perfect for summer! It came with four items varying from skin care to cosmetics. The items were: Yaby eye shadows  which varied in color (2), Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist, Glam RX empty palette, and finally a La Fresh Makeup remover wipes.

This was the first time that I have ever heard of Yaby eye shadows. I received two colors which were a muted rose pink with some berry undertones and a white  very similar to M.A.C’s Gesso. I immediately swatched the pink color and was a little disappointed by the color payoff. In the pan it looks quite intense and very pretty but the color payoff was disappointing. It does not show up at all and I have to pack it on quite heavy to make the color appear on my eyelid. The white colored eye shadow, did have a great vibrancy, it does have a slight shimmer and I would say it is pearl finish. Great for a highlighting the brow bone or the inner corner.

Now, the Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist is made with organic ingredients ( it does include an organic seal)  and it’s supposed to hydrate the skin as well as serve as a toner too. This most definitely has a smell, quite strong and its a mix between bitter and sweet. It is a strange mixture and it’s not something that I enjoy, I did spray it over my face and honestly I can’t say it helped or that I saw any significant change. It did however create a stinging sensations. Unfortunately, I feel like it falls under the category of “great so what exactly does this do?” It  doesn’t really help or affect the condition of your skin. Would I purchase this? No, the smell is awful and I don’t see any big “wow” factor or benefits for my skin. Very disappointed.

La Fresh Makeup Remover wipes, they do a great job in removing a the makeup off. No residue left after and it does not seem to dry my skin. Not much to say about this one, I mean… it a makeup remover wipe… It is a great travel size which is convenient I must say.

The Glam RX Empty Palette is magnetic and the perfect small travel size with a nice size mirror, I was able to fit my makeupgeek eye shadows which are about the same size of Mac eye shadow. Best item in the glam bag. Now, with that said, there was a slight confusion with this particular item. When the YouTube makeup gurus affiliated with ipsy uploaded their videos, Glam RX sent them a completely different item. Their had a translucent powder, eyeliner as well as other items all in a nice compact. I am fully aware that they receive items that are specifically for them but if the item differs tremendously from what the rest of the subscribers received, they should not use it at all. It clearly marks a difference when I believe the goal for the video is to provide an example of how to use your items.

Overall impression, well it was an okay bag for the month of March. I enjoyed the variety of beauty products however it did not excite me at all. I ended up giving away the majority of the products I received except for the blank mini palette. None of the items wowed me enough to even consider purchasing full sizes. Please take into considerations these are strictly my opinion based on a 3 week, everyday use. Some may have loved every item and that is absolutely fine.

That is all I have for today! I hope you guys found this helpful, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to include them below. Until next time, have fun and take care.
